Indian Paduka

Indian Paduka

These wooden sandals are still being worn in daily in some regions of India, and you often see embellished ceremonial versions in books about footwear or India. You can actually see the wear on this shoe, the pressure of the wearers foot having made a graphic indentation on its surface, in addition to the worn down heel portion.

It's the notched shape of the wooden footbed, augmented by the human foot we see worn into it the surface, that gives this shoe a level of human content no designer could match!
